Last night (Sat 6th December, Jesus Exhibition day) at Masjid AlRawdha, during Maghrib and Isha, something remarkable happened — something many may not have noticed.
Our imam chose very specific verses to recite. Verses that, when placed together, carry a powerful message about the importance of Dawah, steadfastness, patience, and representing Islam with excellence.
I wanted to highlight this for all of you, so we can reflect deeply and benefit from the wisdom behind his choices.
🌅 During Maghrib: Surah Fussilat (41:30–36)
Theme: Steadfastness in calling to Allah, patience, and responding with goodness.
📖 Dr. Mustafa Khattab Translation
41:30 to 36
Surely those who say, “Our Lord is Allah,” and then remain steadfast— the angels descend upon them, saying, “Do not fear, nor grieve. Rather, rejoice in the good news of Paradise, which you have been promised.”We are your supporters in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. There you will have whatever your souls desire, and there you will have whatever you ask for.As a welcoming gift from the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And who is better in speech than those who call others to Allah, do good, and say, “Surely I am one of the Muslims.” Good and evil cannot be equal. Respond ˹to evil˺ with what is best, then the one you are in a feud with will be like a close friend. But this cannot be attained except by those who are patient and who are truly fortunate. And if you are tempted by Satan, then seek refuge with Allah. Indeed, He ˹alone˺ is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
🌟 Reflection:
These verses speak directly to the character of a da’i — patience, excellence in speech, responding to negativity with goodness, and calling people to Allah with sincerity.
🌙 During Isha: Surah Aal-Imran (3:113–116)
Theme: Not all People of the Book are the same — and the honour of those who stand for truth.
3:113 to 116
They are not all alike. Among the People of the Book is an upright group who recite Allah’s revelations throughout the night, prostrating ˹in prayer˺.They believe in Allah and the Last Day, enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and hasten to do good deeds. They are among the righteous. They will never be denied the reward for any good they have done. And Allah knows those mindful ˹of Him˺.Surely neither the wealth nor children of the disbelievers will be of any benefit to them against Allah. It is they who will be the residents of the Fire. They will be there forever.
🌟 Reflection:
From this recitation, we are reminded that truth seekers exist everywhere, and that those who uphold goodness, justice, and truth are honoured by Allah. It also shows the urgency of Dawah — helping people find guidance before it is too late.
💭 Why This Matters
Our imam quietly delivered a masterclass on Dawah, without a lecture, without a workshop — simply through the Qur’an.
The message woven between these two recitations is clear:
- Be steadfast.
- Call others to Allah with beauty and patience.
- Recognise the goodness in people.
- Invite them to the truth with wisdom.
- And remember that Allah sees every effort.
Sometimes the most profound lessons come silently, through reflection.
✨ I shared this so that you may reflect.
May Allah make us from those who call to Him with wisdom, sincerity, and compassion — and from those who recognise the signs He sends us daily.
