Why Some MK Dawah Conversations Open Doors While Others Face Rejection This Week

In dawah, your actions speak louder than your words. People may not stop to listen, but they’re constantly observing. How you interact with others and handle it when they don’t agree with your point.

How do you respond to criticism and challenging conversations? Did you keep yourself calm and patiently invite them to the oneness of God? This week, our team experienced both, from kind gestures to challenging encounters.

An elderly lady to whom MK volunteers helped with her shopping bags. She was impressed by our kind gesture and later came back to take a Quran.

As the Prophet (SAW) said:

“Indeed, the most beloved among you to me and the nearest to sit with me on the Day of Judgment are those who are best in character.”

Jamiʿ at-Tirmidhi, 2018

Then a group of Pokémon hunters repeatedly refused to talk. We tried our best to bring them into the conversation, but they were busy having fun. Later, we found out why they were declining us.

In CMK, He Took The Quran And Then Handed It Back

Most of the time, people visited us in pairs with their friends or family members. One person would agree with some of the Islamic points we shared and want to take a copy of the Quran or some leaflets.

But sometimes, the other person would stop them or ask them to hand it back. Today, we engaged with a Hindu couple. The wife accepted the Quran, but a few minutes later the husband returned it and said we didn’t need it. He reminded us of the young lad who quietly returned the Quran because he didn’t want his family to see it.

Later on, we approached another Hindu couple with their children and offered them a copy of the Quran. The man accepted it and went into the library. A few hours later, he came back and returned the Quran.

Brother Rajhi encouraged him to keep it. But he said he only wanted to look at what he needed; now he wants to give it back. May the Almighty accept it from our side and open their hearts to see the real truth, Ameen.

Why Did A Group Of People Refuse The Quran Repeatedly?

There was a group of people who were playing Pokémon. They passed by us several times and were trying to catch the Pokémon. Brother Rajhi and other team members tried to engage them in conversation. But each time, they refused, and this happened repeatedly.

It reminded us of the verse in Surah Al-Furqan:

“Have you seen he who has taken his own desires as his god? Then would you be responsible for him?”

Quran 25:43

People are running behind their desires, whether it’s career, money, social media, shopping, happiness, and so on. They forget the real purpose of their lives. Because they don’t have time. Everyone is busy being inspired by influencers or people they want to become.

A moment of happiness from someone’s life on social media, and they assume their entire life looks like that. Then they want to make their own lives look the same. They know social media shows a filtered version of reality.

Still, they blindly trust what they see and start chasing the happiness they think it represents. They don’t recognize why Allah SWT sent us in this dunya. What’s our main purpose and goal? Why are we here, and how can we get peace of heart and tranquility?

Even when we invite them to the message of one God. Allah SWT doesn’t allow their ear and hearts to listen to us. As He mentioned in the Quran.

“Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment.”

Qur’an 2:7

One Helping Gesture In Bletchley And She Came Back To Take A Quran Copy

People always remember how you treated them and the hands that reached out first when they were suffering. Your religion and caste don’t matter. What matters is that you feel their pain and help them to get out of it.

Our first interaction in Bletchley was a similar situation. When we saw an elderly lady, most likely in her 60s, she was struggling with her shopping bags. Brother Sadique and Ahmad helped her with her shopping bags to reach her destination.

Brother Adil stayed back behind to continue the dawah. Along the way, we had a brief conversation about why we were there and what we were doing. We told her that we were doing dawah means calling people to the oneness of God.

And MK Dawah is basically a community-focused outreach initiative based in Milton Keynes. We educate non-Muslims about the values, beliefs, and foundation of Islam. We also offer beginner-friendly Islamic material and support/mentorship for new Muslims/converts.

We have separate groups for revert brothers and sisters to help them in their journey of Islam. SubhanAllah, an hour later, she came back and asked for a Quran copy. It’s much like a similar moment in Bletchley, where the actions of Muslim cab drivers became the message itself. May Allah make this step of exploring Islam easy for her and enlighten her heart with his guidance, Ameen.

He Was Stucked To The Point That Jesus Is God

The other notable conversation was with a gentleman in his 50’s. We had a good discussion, but he was particularly stuck on the belief that Jesus is God. We explained to him the honor and status of Jesus in Islam. Why he isn’t God but one of the beloved Prophets of the Almighty.

In Kingston, Milton Keynes dawah volunteers explained to the gentleman why Jesus isn’t God in Islam

Pointing him toward the Quran 5:116, the same verse that helped another visitor rethink Jesus’s status after a similar sticking point. We couldn’t come to an argument because Duhr time was approaching. But he said he learned a lot and hoped to come back again, InshaAllah.

Welcome To Milton Keynes Dawah Team

SubhanAllah, MK Dawah has such a great team and is doing tremendous work across all three Dawah locations. Every week, they come up with new creative ideas to engage people to spread the message of Islam.

Whether it’s through their actions, conversations, or setting up the stall in a way that captures locals’ attention. We’re servants of Allah to continue the mission of His beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Every week, He sends new faces our way to join us and put barakah in our work and efforts. This week we welcomed brother Arsalan to our team. May Allah accept his contribution and reward him in this world and the hereafter.

You are always welcome to join our community and be a part of this journey. You can also partner with us to help us provide more materials to people of Milton Keynes. Contact us through our website contact form, email, phone, or social media platforms.
